Red Shouldered Hawk with building supplies... (& Finiky you've ruffled my feathers)

I've managed to spot some wild Hawks at the US National Zoo numerous times.

This weekend I spotted at least 3 different birds, and two of them are a mated pair of Red-Shouldered Hawks. I found their nest and took a bunch of cool shots of them building the nest, sitting in the nest, mating, and eating a mouse!

I can't wait to go back and keep an eye on them.

For directions to the nest click the forum link in the description of this photo. It's pretty much above the Eagle habitat, towards the Bird House slightly.

Tiger News From Denver (& Video)

News on the Tigers and their new home. The video is pretty good, and shows their habitat and them being a little active. It's good to hear they're doing ok.

Red Shouldered Hawk (near work)

I've been spotting this Red Shouldered Hawk, and possibly a second one too.

This was shot at one of th adjacent buildings to where I work, and the hawk started on a light pole. He them flew in, and joined a couple of crows that were also interested in the dumpster. The crows left within a couple of minutes.

I should have had my ISO a little higher, maybe at 400. My lense isn't that fast, just f/4.5-5.6. Still it was at ISO 250, f/8 and 1/1000th.

I've now seen this guy (assuming it is just the same one, and not the second one I've only spotted once) about 7 times now in a month and a half or so. I wonder if I was looking for him in the past months if I would have noticed him. As with so much...
